I think this was not a movie that stands by itself


It only exists as a chapter within the larger story line and that is probably what disappoints many people. I keep hearing it compared to Empire Strikes Back but that was much more of a fully contained story that loosely tied to the first movie. And yes this movie did have some dumb Gilmore Girls type dumbness with the shirt off and the kiss in a crashed speeder in the middle of a battle.

But overall as a middle chapter in the story it was entertaining. Not perfect but still far better than the carp episodes 1-3 when Lucas still had control. In the end we get the typical Disney, great universe building with moments of greatness next to moments geared to tweens and kids.
